Stuart Kauffman (1995)
Wikipedia: author

Stuart Kauffman gives an interesting view on how the prerequisites for evolution could have occurred in our universe. He also pushes the point that these prerequisites and hence evolution itself are unavoidable and that because there are universal, immutable laws underlying this all, that largely determine the 'outcome' of evolution, 'we' are to be expected in any universe. Whether he means just you and me, all humans or perhaps sentient, conscious, language using, artifact making, evolved creatures in general is not very clear. Kauffman's views on chaos and order are very interesting, but his concept of 'we the expected' sounds and feels like unscientific gospel, but perhaps I am wrong.
